What I do:

Hi!  I’m Briana.  Many call me Miss Briana, and some call me Teacher Briana.  I’ve been a credentialed teacher since the early 90s, and I’ve worked in schools for over a decade.  I left teaching when I had my first child, and my husband and I decided to homeschool.  I’ve had so much fun teaching  homeschoolers for over a decade.  I love teaching!  

I designed this program to assist parents with homeschooling their children because I know how challenging homeschooling can be.  The pre-recorded lessons are standards based, so that if a student were to go back to school at some point, they would be at grade level.  The lessons provide the basics of what the student should know, but there is also room for expansion if the parent so chooses.  I take care of the “schooly stuff”, and the parent can do the fun stuff like learning related crafts, science experiments, or simply doing more research on a topic that your student is passionate about.

Here is how the pre-recorded lessons work.  Your child’s assignments will be accessed in my Google Classroom.  There are 30 weeks of lessons, divided into two 15 week parts. This way, you don’t have to pay for the entire school year at once; you can try one semester of lessons first.  Your child can easily learn to pull up the assignments, print out worksheets, and then press play on the video (younger students may need assistance setting up the lessons).  I will teach, explain, and guide them through the work as we do it together.  I give the student many opportunities to try to do the work on their own, and then check their work along with me on the video.  That’s it!  All that’s required of the parent is to make sure that your student is doing the lessons, check on them from time to time, and take a look at their work when they are done.  It’s designed to make your life a lot easier, and still be able to homeschool your child.  I will have weekly virtual “office hours” to give any needed extra support for the student (and even the parent, if desired).   

If you’re wondering how effective of a teacher I am, when my teens went to high school, after being homeschooled their whole lives, they quickly rose to the top of their classes. My kids choose to take honors, AP, and college classes in high school, and continue to get straight As.  We never pushed our kids academically, but we facilitated their passion for learning, and they have far exceeded anything we ever imagined!
